Depave: Vermont Hills Methodist Church 8/28

Join Depave and Vermont Hills Methodist Church for the first-ever depaving in southwest Portland! Vermont Hills is currently the site of a nearly 10,000 square foot community garden. To meet the growing demand of community gardening, Vermont Hills and Portland Parks & Recreation will depave 7,200 square feet of thin, cracked asphalt parking lot to expand the garden and add 18 more plots!

Date: Saturday, August 28, 2010

Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Site: Vermont Hills Church at 6053 SW 55th Drive (off of SW Shattock Road)

Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Depave will provide volunteers with all the necessary tools, safety gear, and water. Snacks and lunch will be provided as well. Due to the physical nature of asphalt removal, volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed toe shoes, as well as clothing appropriate for the weather.

This depaving event is made possible by a partnership with the following organizations: Depave, Vermont Hills Methodist Church, Portland Parks & online canadian pharmacy Recreation Community Gardens Program, Friends of Portland Community Gardens, Bureau of Environmental Services, and West Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District.
