In preparation for our upcoming Village Building Design Course, an enhancement course to the Village Building Convergence, the newly formed Placemakers’ Academy is excited to announce a free weekly workshop series to anyone and everyone interested.
Similar to the preparatory placemaking training that the VBC Placemaking Team is providing for the community placemaking sites participating in this year’s Convergence, we will be providing an interactive learning series covering many areas of placemaking with the goal of empowering participants to facilitate placemaking in their own communities.
This is a free series and there is no registration necessary. Our main goal is to have an opportunity to explore our curriculum ideas and get feedback from people on how to improve. We’re really excited about what we’re working on and think it will be a very fun and adventurous series! Whether you’re already familiar with our work or hearing about City Repair and placemaking for the first time, this is an opportunity for you. Invite your friends to come along as well!
Wednesday Workshops from 6:30 – 8:30 at the St. Francis Church on SE 12th and Oak. Enter through the Southside park entrance and follow the signs!
For more information contact: PlacemakersAcademy@cityrepair.org or call 971 404 4480 if you need help finding the room.

I am not free on Wednesdays, but would like to learn to make cob structures. When will that be happening?
Howdy Rose,
Building with cob is not covered in our workshop series but there will be many opportunities to build with cob during our Village Building Convergence.
Hi don’t live in Portland but this sounds awesome and right on with what I’m interested in. Do you have a reading list or something for where I can learn more? Thanks!
Howdy Liz,
We have a Placemaking Guidebook for sale that covers most of it. This first workshop series is the beginning of developing new educational placemaking content, so more material will be coming over the next few years!
You can get the guidebook here: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/cityrepair
