Tiffany Wong

Hello All! I am one of three City Repair interns and attend school at the University of California Santa Cruz as a community studies major. I am currently in transition into my third year at UCSC and am trying to graduate a year early. I have a strong interest in permaculture, biking and placemaking and am excited to learn about the elements that it takes to create places. I am excited about all that City Repair has done and want to do it all in the next six months of my internship. I look forward to what the future has to hold.

Brian Sindel

Hello, my name is Brian Sindel and I am a native of San Diego, CA. I, much like the other two interns, am a student at UCSC. I really enjoy hiking, biking, bodysurfing (but not in Oregon), and just generally being outside (but it should be noted that I dont enjoy getting sunburns or bitten by mosquitoes). I also love food and music (at this point it should also be noted that I dont have much money). I am absolutely in love with Portland and City Repair, so far at least, and am really excited to be involved with basically all the projects that are a part of it. I would love to get to know each and every person who is a part of this project as well, so feel more than free to contact me and hopefully you could give me a bike tour of some cool spots or possibly a tour of some fruit foraging spots, or really anything!

Nick Bischoff

Hi, my name is Nick born and raised in the city of San Rafael, CA and am attending school at UC Santa Cruz. I am here with Brian and Tiffany on a field study to work with City Repair. I like music, food, art, and the great outdoors. I’m happy to be here in the beautiful city of Portland and involved with City Repair. I’m looking forward to meeting you all and making a difference in our communities making them the places that we want to live and play!

POLITICAL ARTS GROUP HIGHLIGHTS RESISTANCE TO LNG

Printmakers from Portland and Indonesia map the resistance to
imported liquefied natural gas from the source to the consumer in two giant relief prints. On Thursday, the 5th of August, Justseeds and SEA Change gallery will present an opening reception for “We Agree: A Crisis in Common”. On display will be two large blockprints, one made by the Portland-based members of the Justseeds Artist Cooperative, and the other by members of Taring Padi, an artist cooperative from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The two prints, each measuring three feet by nine feet, are bold, graphic depictions of the impact of the Natural gas industry and its satellites on the landscape and peoples of both sides of the Pacific. They were designed and printed collaboratively, with the help of generous funding from RACC and Work for Art. Other artworks by Justseeds and Taring Padi will also be on display. The gallery will open at 5 pm. SEA Change is located at 625 NW Everett St, Gallery #110, in Downtown Portland.

We will depave 800 square feet of asphalt along the south side of the playground to create a shaded seating area for students, teachers, and parents. As with all Depave events, there will be far more to enjoy than asphalt removal, including food, games for kids, and water cooling activities for the volunteers! The pavement at CSS is thick, so we will need lots of volunteers to help get this project done!

Depave will provide volunteers with the all necessary tools, safety gear, and water. Food will be donated from local businesses. Due to the physical nature of asphalt removal, volunteers are encouraged to wear closed toed shoes and long pants. Please also dress appropriately for the weather. All ages are welcome to participate!

I know it is crazy, but aren’t we all in some way. This is the official notice looking for interested folks to help organize the fifth annual City Riparian.

City Riparian, the Village Planting Convergence takes place usually on the second weekend of October and is filled with events related to all things Permaculture. In the past we have organized mushroom workshops, cob pizza party potlucks, permaculture design charrettes, street plantings, tree prunings and worm composting workshops just to name a few.

If you are interested in being part of the organizing team of this extremely low key and fun event, please email cityriparian@cityrepair.org
