  • 7233 SE Alder St Portland, OR, 97215 United States (map)

Join the wonderful singer Peia ( for a day of permaculture action and sharing song while we work!

We will also be building energy for The City Repair Project 's upcoming 15th Annual Village Building Convergence (VBC) from May 29 - June 6th and giving information out about how you can get involved!

The Vision for Combining Permaculture and Song:

All around the world, in village cultures, people sing while they work together, building community and making the work more enjoyable in the process. Peia has traveled extensively, studying traditional music from a many cultures. She will lead us in beautiful songs with parts that are easy to learn to sing together.

About the Permaculture Project:

We will be establishing a new permaculture style organic garden. This garden will serve as a site for future gatherings. The location is large vacant lot near Mt. Tabor owned by a friend of City Repair.

There will be an emphasis on establishing plants that are good for local pollinator species, such as wild honeybees and butterflies. City Repair is actively working to help establish these types of pollinator gardens throughout the City, to provide a network of linked habitat coordinators for these crucial species that are under threat.

There will be a variety of types of work available, from seated hand crafting, to light and easy full body work, to heavy duty workout opportunities.

About the Music:

Peia is a vocalist, composer and sacred song preserver of traditions from all over the world. She has traveled extensively and studied the rich traditions of classical Indian raga, medieval chant, Bulgarian and Celtic folk music, and songs from the native peoples of North and South America. You can hear her music at

Peia will be giving a concert in Portland the night before and a workshop later on this day. Find out about those here and join her for all three!

Peia will share songs with us that have sections that can be learned easily and sung together. We will then work together, while singing that song, until Peia shares another songs with us to learn. Peia may also give us some tips on how we can integrate vocal techniques with working with the earth on physical and subtle energetic levels.
