2020 Placemaking Program Update
Applications for the 2020 Placemaking Program are in and City Repair will start working with placemakers on February 13th! We have 21 new placemakers and 10 returning placemakers this year who have turned in proposals, and we’re in conversation with a dozen more sites who may step into the program.
The applications include street paintings, ecological landscaping, and natural building projects from all over Portland. While many of our projects take place in Portland, City Repair works throughout the Portland metro region and we were excited to receive an application from Supa Fresh Farms in Tigard.
We are thrilled to be partnering with so many organizations around Portland. P:ear, an organization that works with transitional and homeless youth, have proposed an intersection painting in Lents. Likewise Gentrification is WEIRD!, an organization run by Donovan Smith that creatively explores race and place, and local hip hop artist Matt Randol have invited City Repair to help with an intersection repair project near George Park in St. John’s.
Thank you to everyone who applied to our placemaking program for sharing with us about who you are and what you want to accomplish in your communities. We couldn’t be more excited to really dig into your projects and preparing for the Village Building Convergence (VBC) when the majority or projects are installed. Now in its 20th year, the VBC runs May 29th thru June 7th.
