The Wheelhouse is an octagonal hut overlooking the river in the Green Anchors gardens, being restored as a fiber arts studio where flax, nettle, milkweed, dogbane and other fibers grown in the gardens, along with local silk and wool, will be processed and dyed. The Wheelhouse sits in the Village Green, a collection of small handmade plant-purpose buildings clustered around the apiary that includes the apothecary and hive house.
On Wednesday June 19th, we’ll be reinforcing the structure to bear the extra weight of the soil, creating a drainfield on the roof, and installing baffles to hold the soil in place on the slant.
On Thursday June 20th, if we haven’t finished, we’ll put the soil and plants in.
