Description

Thanks to a partnership with the Urban Farm Collective, Kazuko Gardens had an opportunity to create place for cross cultural community exchange in NE Portland.

Our Gardeners are from a dozen different countries, most of whom are still studying English. At each of our weekly work parties we share our food, language, and cultural knowledge with each other. All of our volunteers earned credits to spend at a weekly barter market hosted by the Urban Farm Collective.

Permaculture installments at Kazuko Gardens included building raised beds to grow an assortment of edible plants and pollinator habitats, Hugelkultur projects, and seed stowing.
