Being a design and architecture organization that has been supporting houseless villages for over a decade, City Repair has been participating in the design working group of the Village Coalition called Partners On Dwelling (POD) along with
Portland State University School of Architecture/Center for Public Interest Design, Open Architecture Portland, and Communitecture: Architecture, Planning and Design.
For more information visit our central website by clicking here.
Facilitated by the POD and the Village Coalition, sleeping pods have been designed and built through Winter 2016 based off of charrettes working with houseless communities and inspired by current Portland villages.
Below are images from the pods on display in a village layout at the northern most part of the North Park Block.
This initiative is not intended to be the solution to homelessness in Portland, but one entry point for designers and volunteers to become involved and a model for supporting community making and strong social infrastructure among villages.
